So, I recently had the absolute vibe of being on Bogart Radio’s Beyond the Itinerary — and let me just say, it was more than just a chat. It was one of those moments where car talk met real talk, and where a platform usually reserved for travel and laughs became a stage for something deeper: empowering women through everyday car knowledge.
I sat down with Sudesh Nadarsen and Tandi Potgieter from Group 1 Auto The Glen, and together, we unpacked everything from holiday road trips, test drive rituals, and, of course, the heart of my hustle — Mads on the Move.
Now, if you’re still asking “What exactly is Mads on the Move?”, here’s the short version:
It’s not your husband’s car review.
It’s not about torque stats and engine specs you’ll never Google again.
It’s real talk, from behind the wheel — by a woman who just wants to know if this car will handle the school run, the long-haul road trip, the ‘oops I hit a pothole’ moment, and the ‘I can change my own tyre’ level of life.
There’s something about South African road trips that hits different. Whether it’s your tannie’s Tupperware full of padkos or that backseat sibling rivalry, every trip has a story. On the show, we laughed through some wild road trip memories (and you can even voice note yours to stand a chance to win theatre tickets – don’t say I didn’t tell you 😉).
But beyond the laughs, it was a great reminder of why I do what I do — cars are about experiences. Not just fuel consumption. It’s about feeling safe, feeling seen, and feeling like you know what the hell is going on under the hood — without a man translating for you.
The vibe of Mads on the Move is simple: start the conversation.
You don’t need to know everything — but knowing where your spare wheel is or how to check your tyre pressure should be as normal as knowing how to make toast. And if you want to know more, I’ve got your back.
We need more women in this space, not just behind the wheel, but behind the voice of car reviews, test drives, and even in dealerships. Because let’s be honest, buying a car as a woman? Still intimidating. But that’s changing. And we’re driving that change — pun very intended.
So shoutout to Bogart Radio and Beyond the Itinerary for letting me share my story. And if you’re still wondering whether the Renault Triber fits 7 people comfortably, or whether that bakkie is just a bakkie or something more — come take the ride with me.
You bring the snacks.
I’ll bring the questions.
Let’s go.
